Augmented Reality For Study Amid Pandemic

Augmented Reality is a technology that combines two-dimensional or three-dimensional virtual objects into a real environment and then projects these virtual objects in reality in real-time.

BantenTribun.id- Pandemics become unpleasant for our children. They can not go to school, interact with their friends and teachers. Children must learn online, at home, and interact with siblings and parents.

The teacher needs adaptation, online learning, conveying theories from a distance, sending assignments, making visits, and others. The point is to make three parties boredom, teachers, students, and parents.

Online learning is could more attractive if teachers make creative ideas. They can use various technologies to get attention from students.
One of those strategies is using Augmented Reality (AR).

Augmented Reality, What Is It?

AR (Augmented Reality) is a technology that combines two-dimensional or three-dimensional virtual objects into a real environment and then projects these virtual objects in reality in real-time.

AR implement to all senses. Including hearing, touching, and smelling.
Even they use other work fields such as health, military, manufacturing, and education.

This AR technology can insert certain information into cyberspace and display it in the real world with equipment such as webcams, computers, Android phones, and special glasses.
Augmented reality divides into two kinds. First Marker Based Tracking, and the Second is Markless Augmented Reality.

Augmented Reality Marker (Marker Based Tracking)

Marker is usually a black and white illustration of a square with a bold black border and white background. The computer will recognize the position and marker orientation to create a 3D virtual world, namely the point (0,0,0) and three axes X, Y, and Z.

Markerless Augmented Reality

One of the currently developing Augmented Reality methods is Markerless Augmented Reality. This method makes users no longer use marker display digital elements. Qualcomm provides this method to expands the mobile device,

Augmented-Reality expands to other methods include Face Tracking. Computer Algorithms, the device could recognize human faces. AR also can detect the position of eyes, nose, moth, and ignoring other objects.

AR also can ignore other objects around them like trees, houses, and others.

3D Object Tracking. Face Tracking only recognizes human faces in general. The 3D Object Tracking technique can recognize all shapes of objects around, such as cars, tables, televisions, and others.
Then Motion Tracking.

Computers can capture motion tracking. It has begun to use extensively in films that attempt to simulate motion.

Lastly is GPS Based Tracking. This Tracking technique is currently gaining popularity and has developed in smartphone applications (iPhone and Android).
The application will retrieve data from the GPS and compass then display it in the direction we want in real-time. Now even more sophisticated with 3 D features.

Pokemon Go is one of the examples of augmented reality. By using AR, those games become trending a few years ago.

Pokemon Go uses GPS technology to track player movement by Augmented reality (AR) technology. Then display Pokemon on the screen while using the camera.

AR and VR?

Furthermore, besides getting to know Augmented Reality, we are also offered another technology, namely Virtual Reality.

Virtual Reality (VR) is a technology that allows you to interact with a 3D environment that is made as close as possible to the real world or imagination. In VR, this brings the user to enjoy a different experience in a different world.

VR enjoyed by requiring devices in the form of a VR headset, such as Google’s Cardboard, Oculus Rift, or Samsung Gear VR. It also requires a smartphone. Why only need a smartphone? Because in general, today’s smartphones are compatible with gyroscopes and Magnetic sensors.

What’s the difference between AR and VR? The difference is in user experience in interacting with the virtual world. AR or Augmented Reality combines the real world with virtual elements, while Virtual Reality indulges its users with seeing and interacting in the virtual world.

Attractive Online Learning With AR

Student Attention will increase when learning by AR. Online but looks real, applicative, and like playing. They can study more detail and know more about the object.

For example, when students learn about plant anatomy, AR then presents it in detail and will understand more because the various senses function.
Students in the Machine Vocational School see the machine structure in more detail just from a smartphone. (red)
